Is Your Student Ready to be a Pioneer?

Just a few more days until your student is on campus and ready to begin their DU experience! Their first week at the University of Denver will be filled with Discoveries Orientation activities, everything from registering for classes to purchasing textbooks, on-campus lectures to off-campus adventures. Make sure you peruse the full list of action items compiled on our Undergraduate Admission site and let us know if you have any questions. Also, check out this welcome video from our Undergraduate Student Government president and vice-president.

Things to Do in Denver

For those of you traveling a little early (or for those of you who already live in Colorado and want to have an excuse to experience the city!), we've compiled a short list of some of the fun happenings in and around Denver.

Move-in Day

Want to know what it looks like when over 1,000 students move into our residence halls? Take a look at this video of move-in day - it's not nearly as chaotic as you might think! (and here's a list of what to bring and what not to bring as well as laundry services that may be helpful as your student adjusts to university life!)

AlcoholEdu

The University of Denver cares about your student's health and safety while attending college. We require that all students complete an essential online course - "AlcoholEdu for College" - no later than August 31st. Parents, you too can learn about the impact of alcohol use on college student success through a free online workshop. Use the New User tab to enter the DU parent login ID: P127060PARENT.

Students Getting Involved

A student's first year is a time to explore, to get involved and to try new things. Our students are engaged in everything from club sports to Greek Life, from religious organizations to the Center for Community Engagement & Service Learning, from Debate to Alpine Club. There are over 100 clubs that offer your student an opportunity to get involved, all of which will be featured at the Pioneer Carnival on September 7th!

Learning the Campus Landscape

Our former Associate Provost for Academic Resources, Jo Calhoun, was (and is) a respected member of our University community. She is also a proud parent, and can relate to what many of our Pioneer parents might be experiencing during this pivotal time of year. Read "Learning the Campus Landscape" on our parents blog!
