Congratulations on becoming a DU Pioneer!We are excited to welcome you to campus in August! Our website for new students—www.du.edu/newundergraduates—will be an excellent resource for you throughout the summer. The International Students Tab will be especially helpful and will provide important information for you and your parents. We will be sending you updates through monthly e-newsletters until you arrive on campus. Features will include items that need to be completed and fun articles about life at DU. They will also include information on some of the amazing opportunities that our current students are taking advantage of. International Student and Scholar ServicesCongratulations, once again, on your admission to the University of Denver! The Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) looks forward to welcoming you to campus this fall. Each quarter, ISSS hosts an orientation for new international students. During this orientation, international student advisors and guest speakers will discuss a variety of topics to help you learn about maintaining your immigration status and creating and sustaining success in your academic program. For information on this fall’s mandatory International Student Orientation, please visit our website. Students who have been English Conditionally Admitted (ECA) to the University of Denver and will begin at the English Language Center will not be attending International Student Orientation and can find more information on the English Language Center Orientation and testing dates on our downloadable calendar. If you have additional questions, please feel free to email us at elc@du.edu. Academic commons - progress reportThe Academic Commons at Penrose Library construction project has progressed from demolition to building and is on schedule with an expected opening in winter 2013! The new facility, in the central campus location where Penrose Library was built in 1972, will essentially have a similar acre-size footprint as the original library, with a 20-foot extension on the south side being the only new space spanning all three floors. Ask DUWhat is the study abroad experience like at DU? To foster an internationalized campus culture, DU has developed an infrastructure that makes study abroad efficient and affordable. Students on the Cherrington Global Scholars Program typically spend a quarter abroad and still meet all the requirements of their degree programs—on schedule and at no additional cost for tuition, room, and board.
