welcome to du!
Congratulations—You're Officially a Pioneer Parent! We are excited to welcome all of our new students in September and want to provide you with the resources your family needs to make a smooth transition. We encourage you to visit a site that was specifically designed with our new students in mind – www.du.edu/newundergraduates. The site will provide you with all the information you need to prepare for your son or daughter’s arrival at DU, including an action-item checklist, housing resources and the Discoveries Orientation schedule. We know you and your student are anxious to get the ball rolling with all things DU-related, so we are going to send you monthly updates via e-newsletter throughout the summer until you arrive on campus in September for the parent portion of Discoveries Orientation. Features in the newsletters will include action items you and your student need to complete and fun tidbits about life at DU – we will also speak to some of the amazing opportunities that our current students are taking advantage of. We hope that your student is as excited to be on campus in September as we are to see them start your journey with us. The next four years will be an exhilarating time in their life – they will not only form new relationships and be challenged academically, but they will also be asked to think more critically and creatively about their role as a global citizen. This time will help transform them into the individuals they are meant to become. We couldn’t be happier or more proud that they have chosen to spend it at the University of Denver!
Academic commons - progress reportThe Academic Commons at Penrose Library construction project has progressed from demolition to building and is on schedule with an expected opening in winter 2013! The new facility, in the central campus location where Penrose Library was built in 1972, will essentially have a similar acre-size footprint as the original library, with a 20-foot extension on the south side being the only new space spanning all three floors. Read more, and watch a video on how books are delivered from our storage facility to the DU campus, on our blog!
