When you arrive at the University of Denver we want you to know that you are in a supportive and caring environment, with students, faculty and staff that are eager to help you in your journey. There are many activities you will participate in during your Discoveries Orientation week (such as meeting with your faculty advisor, connecting with fellow students, and registering for classes) designed to assist you in making a smooth transition to campus. As you settle in to life at DU, begin to take advantage of the opportunities that will help you develop new skills, connections and overall wellness. Estimated Budget Letters coming in July
Estimated budget letters are informational and can assist you in planning expenses for your first year at DU. For more details, refer to the Bursar's website.

Completing Loan Requirements
To ensure timely disbursement, please remember to complete the Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note once you have accepted your 2012-2013 loan offer. Both requirements can be satisfied by logging in to www.studentloans.gov using your FAFSA PIN.

Summer Send-Off
Summer Send-Off events are just around the corner, and registration is now open! Please take a moment to register for an event in your area now.

Transportation Notes
When you arrive on campus, you will receive an RTD pass that gives you free access to public transportation in the city of Denver. Many students also choose to bring their own bikes and skateboards or participate in the Denver B-Cycle program. The University is also partnering with the WeCar program. If you choose to bring a car (approximately 50% of students do), you must purchase a permit.

HOUSING AND RESIDENTIAL EDUCATION

First-year and transfer students are now able to view their room assignments and roommates in their webCentral account.
Move-in day for new first-year and transfer students will be on Sunday, September 2nd. To reduce congestion there will be a staggered check-in schedule implemented. Those who are assigned to odd-numbered rooms will check-in at 8 a.m. and those who are assigned to even-numbered rooms will check-in at 10:30 a.m.
Things to do BEFORE moving into your room:
- Go online and get your roommate and room assignment information
- Contact your new roommate to get to know him or her
- Discuss what you will be bringing with your future roommate (you can review a list of recommended items – also, some retail stores, such as Bed, Bath and Beyond, allow you to pick out merchandise at your local store and pick it up near campus, so be sure to research your options)
- Give family and friends your on-campus address (receiving mail is always fun!)

Parking Permits Now Available For Purchase

If you’ll be bringing a car to campus, you may purchase a parking permit online starting Monday, July 16 at 9 a.m. To include the permit fee on your student tuition bill, you must purchase the permit by Sunday, August 5. After August 5, a credit card is the only method of payment. Some restricted lots will sell out quickly, so don’t wait to purchase your permit!

The Daniels College of Business will be sending out important information regarding curriculum and the secondary admission process throughout the summer. If you have indicated business as your major, please keep an eye out for the communication. If you are considering business but have not yet indicated business as your major, please send your name, ID number and email address to dcbundergrad@du.edu to ensure that you receive all important information.

Joyce Meskis

The Denver Publishing Institute (DPI) first opened its doors in July 1976 to a group of students from around the country, and abroad, eager to learn about book publishing. Since then, the four-week summer program has trained more than 3,000 students for the world of books. At the helm of this institution is Joyce Meskis, Publishing Institute director and Denver-area bookseller who is recognized as a leader in the book publishing industry.

LEP/DSP

If you are a student with a physical disability, learning difference and/or ADHD, you may know that every higher education institution has an office that provides reasonable accommodations based on a documented disability. At DU, there are two programs that support students, the Disability Services Program (DSP) and the Learning Effectiveness Program (LEP). They are two different departments offering two different services. However, they work closely to ensure that the needs of students are met.
